Learning outcomes

After the course is completed the student should have a fundamental understanding of the technical functions of building components and of the building as a system. Furthermore the student should have some skills in the various fields involved in the design of a building and an insight into the role of the different professions.

Course main content

Functional requirements for buildings. Architectural design, Foundations and structure. Selection of materials: Technology, environment, durability, aesthetics, economy. Building components and detailing. Sustainability, environmental aspects and energy use. Building information models.

Disposition

The course will be given as lectures, workshops,excercises, seminars and a project task.
