Hybrid Research Collective – Naples

Eleonora de Majo, born in Naples on October 26, 1988 is currently City Councellor of the city of Naples and President of the Urban Policies and Commons Commission.

She recently gained a PhD in Political Philosophy at the University of Palermo after a Bachelor in Philosophy at the University of Naples “Federico II” and a Master’s in Ethics and Philosophical Practices at Roma Tre University.

Gilda Berruti is architect and post doc researcher in Town and Regional Planning at the Department of Architecture, Federico II University of Naples, Italy. Her research interests include: public spaces between urban form and social dimension, the social construction of urban plans, the sustainable city as an aspect of the new urban question. At present, she is focusing on the relationship between planning and urban informalities.

Raniero Madonna (Naples, 1991) is an environmental engineer and activist in Stop Biocidio, a network of grassroots environmental movements. In 2019 he also became an activist in the Fridays for future movement. He coordinates the lab "ReMade in Rione Sanità" for small-scale recycling of plastics and metals and he works as a consultant in the field of waste management. In the OCC! project, Raniero will be working mainly on drafting a people's plan for climate change in Naples.

Cristina Visconti is an architect, Ph.D. in Architectural Technology and Environmental Design at University of Naples Federico II and visiting Ph.D. at Habitat Unit, Technische Universität Berlin. From 2013 member of the Urban Climate Change Research Network (UCCRN) her work is focused on water sensitive adaptation strategies with particular emphasis on participatory research methodology about climate change effects at local level and community-based design measures. Cristina is currently post-doctoral researcher at Escuela de Arquitectura of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Santiago de Chile, engaged in the project “From Catastrophe to Reconstruction”.

Simona Quagliano is an architect and currently she is a Ph.D student in urban planning at the University of Naples Federico II. Her doctoral research investigates the role of governance for cities in transition mainly in the context of climate change. After her graduation in 2015, she has focused on urban regeneration and social innovation and sha has worked, researched and collaborated with different institution. From 2012 she is an active memeber of Legambiente, an Italian environmental organization.

WWF Naples

The WWF local group from Naples shares the organization's mission to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment fo the sake of next generations and to build a future in which people live in harmony with nature. Moreover it aims to implement national and international goals focussing on the local scale of Naples.

Within this scope, in 2015-2016 the WWF Naples has organised a series of public events to popularise, disseminate, and reframe the expertise on climate change. The three meetings were held on the occasion of the COP21 in Paris in november-december 2015 and concerned the effetcts on climate of the sharp increase in greenhouse gas emissions; potential and possible adaptation strategies that the city could adopt to deal with severe effects of the global warming; how climate change affects human health.

The WWF Naples is open to any kind of collaborations with private citizens, environmental associations, institutional and decision-making bodies that are concerned about pollution, mobility, and sustainability.

The local representative is architect Carla Majorano and other members are Giuseppe Zecca (biologist, manager, and activist), Danilo Capasso (doctor in Eastern Languages and Culture and active member of the WWF youth section).
