Strategic collaborations
RELAX is closely linked to several other strategic centres and initiatives at KTH, which all conduct educational efforts for large-scale facilities. Check also their webpages for courses and workshops.
CeXS
The Center for X-rays in Swedish Materials Science (CeXS) is the academic host for the PETRA III Swedish Materials Science beamline, a Swedish national research infrastructure. Among our duties, we represent the Swedish materials user community at PETRA III, governing the scientific direction of the Swedish Materials Science beamline, organise and support education in the form of courses and practical training, general dissemination, and CeXS also undertake infrastructure development projects (hardware and methods) related to streamlining research processes that involve conducting experiments at the PETRA III Swedish Materials Science beamline.
LINXS
LINXS is an advanced studies institute whose mission is to promote science and education focusing on the use of neutrons and X-rays, to attract world-leading scientists for short-term focused research visits, and to create international networks.
NEXT
The Vinnova Sustainable Industry competence centre, NEutron and X-ray science for industrial Technology transitions (NEXT), will co-create materials innovations for enabling sustainable industry transitions – using large scale neutron and synchrotron infrastructures (LSIs) as an enabling technology. The NEXT consortium comprises 24 partners, is coordinated by KTH Royal Institute of Technology and supported by Vinnova.
SwedNess
SwedNess (the Swedish Neutron Education for Science and Society) is the Swedish national graduate school in neutron scattering, established to train the next generation of researchers in Sweden in the use of neutron techniques. SwedNess offers PhD students specialized training, courses, and access to leading neutron facilities such as ESS (European Spallation Source), ILL, ISIS, PSI, J-PARC and SNS. The program aims to strengthen Sweden’s expertise in neutron-based research and foster interdisciplinary scientific advancements. SwedNess is a collaboration between six of Sweden's largest Universities, KTH, Stockholm University (SU), Uppsala University (UU), Linköping University (LiU), Chalmers, and Lund University (LU). It is fully funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF).
WISE
WISE (The Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability) is the largest investment in materials science ever in Sweden and includes major investments at the leading universities in Sweden. The vision is a sustainable future through materials science. The program is a collaboration between Chalmers University of Technology (CTH), Royal University of Technology (KTH), Linköping University, Luleå University of Technology, Uppsala University, Stockholm University, Lund University, as well as with selected research groups at Karlstad University, Umeå University and Örebro University. Through collaborations with industry and society, WISE will promote and activate a transition towards a sustainable society and at the same time advance the scientific frontier in materials science, which establishes Sweden as a leading nation in the field. WISE is financed by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and the total budget for the WISE program is close to SEK 3 billion during 2022–2033.
