He has held a range of different positions in the academic sector, including a spell as Director General at UKÄ, the Swedish Higher Education Authority, between 2017–2022. He had a spell as Secretary General of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions, SUHF. He was Vice Chancellor of Mid Sweden University 2008–2016, and Dean of Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics 2000–2003.
Anders Söderholm’s academic background is from Umeå University, where he became a PhD in 1991 with a thesis on municipal industrial policies. He has been a Professor of Business Administration, and a researcher and teacher in industrial economics at KTH 1998–1999 and 2003–2004. He has also been a guest researcher at Stanford University and Åbo Akademi University.
As President, one of his goals is that KTH should continue to develop as a leading technical and international university for a sustainable future.
