Welcome to a seminar where Laura Cozzi from the International Energy Agency will be presenting this year's World Energy Outlook, and reflect on current climate goals and energy trends.
The IEA's flagship annual publication World Energy Outlook is widely considered as the most authoritative global source of energy analysis and projections. It identifies and explores the biggest trends in energy demand and supply, as well as what they mean for energy security, emissions and economic development.
This year’s edition comes amid major shifts in global energy policies and markets, and acute geopolitical strains. Governments struggle to reach a consensus on the strategies and priorities to tackle concerns about energy security, affordability and the climate crisis. As always, the World Energy Outlook provides unrivalled insights into the consequences of different energy policy and investment choices. An important theme in this year’s WEO is security of supply of critical minerals.

Who is Laura Cozzi?
As the Director of Sustainability, Technology, and Outlooks at the International Energy Agency, Laura Cozzi has played an essential role in shaping global energy and climate policy, and advancing the understanding of energy systems. Ms. Cozzi's leadership at the IEA, particularly as the Chief Energy Modeller and leader of the World Energy Outlook, has been instrumental in providing the most influential analysis of energy systems worldwide.
Her expertise and vision have steered the WEO to become a benchmark for energy and climate analyses, utilized by thousands of people every year across various sectors. Laura Cozzi has been active in integrating KTH's research and expertise into the IEA World Energy Outlook and since 2014 she has been coming to KTH almost yearly to inspire and spread knowledge to our staff and students.
Laura Cozzi was awarded an honorary doctors at KTH in 2024, for her leadership that shapes global energy policy.
