Contesting Loss & Damage – Urban climate justice, grassroots organizations and radical adaptation

The OCC! team at the KTH Environmental Humanities Laboratory in Stockholm (Sweden) has organised the workshop titled "Contesting loss and damage: Urban climate justice, grassroots organizations and radical adaptation” on 5-6 March 2020.

The workshop brings together contributions from both early-career and established scholars on the broadly defined field of urban climate justice that dare to look beyond the myth of self-regulating markets of private insurance schemes and liberal technocratic functionalism of engineering interventions. As such, it amplifies grassroots voices and efforts for radical transformation from the global South and global North.

By bringing together around 20 researchers engaged in research on loss, damage, adaptation and transformation in the context of urban climate justice from different disciplines in social science and humanities, the workshop aims to foster cross-pollination of expertise, insights and approaches
