About the climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience research theme

In response to escalating climate threats, KTH WaterCentre introduces a new theme, climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience, addressing water-related challenges across interconnected catchment, rural, urban, and coastal systems.

About the climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience research theme

With particular emphasis on nature-based solutions (NBS), the initiative aims to advance science-based, scalable strategies like wetland restoration, green infrastructure, and sustainable drainage to manage severe water risks while simultaneously capturing carbon and reducing emissions. By integrating these ecological approaches into city planning and infrastructure, the theme bridges the gap between water security and climate action and supports implementation by municipalities, infrastructure operators, and communities.
