Background

The Government has established eight regional Innovation Offices tied to selected Swedish universities, of which the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) is one.

The Innovation Offices are tasked with creating a professional, independent support system for commercialization of technical research at the universities.

The Mälardalen region is the European leader with regards to technical research. 50% of research carried out at KTH is of international top quality and over 50% of institute research in Sweden is conducted on KTH campus. The campus also holds a great number of companies, such as SME, investing heavily in FoU initiatives.

The idea behind the KTH Innovation Office is to create a world class support system for commercializing technical research in the Mälardalen region by boosting existing organisations and collaborate closely with our regional partners.

The KTH Innovation Office strives to:

- Build a close collaborative relationship with the innovation support organizations at universities in the Mälardalen region

- Strengthen the local competence for innovation development of early research results

- Create a forum for contact between researchers and companies
