Students at Centre X

People in lab

At Centre X, students are not just observers—they are active contributors to our work in advanced manufacturing. Instead of traditional courses, we engage students through hands-on roles that directly support our research and communication activities, primarily through the Research Student Assistant and Media Design & PR Student Assistant positions.

Our aim is to give students responsibility-driven opportunities to apply and develop their skills in real research and communication contexts. We encourage multidisciplinary collaboration by involving students in both the technical and creative dimensions of our projects, from experimental work to outreach and digital communication. Through this approach, we build a vibrant learning environment in which students, faculty, and industry professionals regularly interact, exchange ideas, and share knowledge across fields.

What Students Gain

  • Access to our laboratories, workshops, and communication platforms, providing hands-on experience with both engineering and media tools.
  • Close interaction with researchers and industry partners from companies such as Scania and Volvo, enabling deep insight into modern manufacturing challenges.
  • Real life experience of working in research environment
  • Participation in internal meetings, events, and project activities that expand technical and professional understanding whether in machining research or science communication.
  • A long-term connection to Centre X’s network, where students can continue exchanging ideas and contributing to future developments even after finishing their role.
