Open positions

Students join our team primarily through two roles: Research Student Assistant and Media Design & PR Student Assistant. Each offers a distinct pathway into Centre X, allowing students to work closely with researchers, engineers, and industry partners. Together, our technical and creative student assistants play an important role in supporting our manufacturing research and in communicating this work to a wider audience.

Research Student Assistant

Are you eager to deepen your technical expertise and contribute to cutting-edge research within advanced manufacturing? As a Research Student Assistant at Centre X, you’ll work closely with our team on real R&D projects from simulations and experiments to industry workshops and technical documentation. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your engineering knowledge, collaborate with major industrial partners, and actively participate in shaping the future of machining and production systems.

You will support Centre X staff in the execution of R&D projects, including literature reviews, simulations, and experimental work, as well as in the planning and organisation of meetings, workshops, and industry conferences, and the preparation of presentations and project documentation. Research Student Assistant in Mechanical Engineering

Your Tasks

Support for the Centre X staff in the following tasks:

  • Execution of R&D projects (literature review, simulations, experiments, etc.)
  • Planning and organization of meetings, workshops, and conferences with industry
  • Preparation of presentations

Your Skills

  • Student at KTH in a subject related to mechanical (Maskinteknik, Industriellteknik och hållbarhet, Industriell production etc) or relevant practical experience
  • You are a team player and have a high grade of proactivity Experience with MS Office
  • Good language skills in English, fluency in Swedish will be considered as a merit

Scope and salary

10 hours per week, 165 SEK/hours

Media Design and PR Student Assistant

Do you have a passion for visual communication, digital media, and creative storytelling? Join Centre X as a Media Design & PR Student Assistant and help shape how we share innovation with the world. In this role, you’ll collaborate with researchers, engineers, and industry partners to transform complex ideas into accessible, engaging content. Whether you’re designing graphics, developing web pages, or supporting events, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment where creativity and technology meet.

You will support Centre X staff by contributing to the design of digital and print media, producing PR materials, assisting with website design and maintenance, creating and publishing content, supporting event organisation, and continuously developing the communication plan.
