By bringing together KTH, Chalmers, Scania, and Volvo, Centre X will develop sustainable, efficient, and advanced manufacturing processes for the powertrains of the future.
To kickstart the expansion of Centre X’s knowledge base, the research areas ”Surface Engineering”, ”Machining Systems”, and ”New Materials” will serve as starting points for initial discussions and as the foundation for pilot projects.
This research theme addresses manufacturing challenges, such as the need for new lightweight materials, the right surface properties and enhanced circularity.
As a hub of expertise, Centre X provides a platform for training the next generation of researchers and professionals, and promote knowledge exchange to create lasting impact on both industry and society.
