KTH Climate Action Centre is thrilled to introduce its two new student workers – Hannah and Max. They will contribute to the Centre’s work by organizing the activities and will be the main contact for students and student organizations. Read their introduction below.

Max Francis Au

1. Tell us a little bit about your background and filed of study

I am currently studying in my first year as a master’s student in Sustainable Technology M.Sc. Before coming to Sweden, I studied Bioeconomy in Germany, focusing on macroeconomics and sustainability. In my thesis, I studied the importance of behavioral economics in sustainable purchasing behavior, focusing on motivated reasoning and cognitive dissonance.

2. What motivates you to work with KTH Climate Action Centre?

Sustainability has always been very important to me. As we approach and transgress the planetary boundaries, I believe that collective climate action is needed. At the Centre, I am thrilled to act as a link between the students, the university, and the climate research happening at KTH. I am excited to accompany many projects and seeing the impact we can create as CAC!

3. What do you look forward to most during your time at the Centre?

Fantastic co-workers and interesting projects – that is what gets me out of bed in the morning.

1. Tell us a little bit about your background and filed of study

I‘ve taken quite a detour to finally make it to studying sustainable technology at KTH. First I studied business in Germany, then Business Intelligence and Smart Services in the Netherlands before working in the field of data analytics for a few years. Now that I am here I ask myself what took me so long, but on the other side I can see how this detour allowed me to learn a lot of skills that I think are also valuable to make an impact on climate action and to appreciate a lot more the joy of working on topics you are passionate about during the day and not in your after work hours only.

2. What motivates you to work with KTH Climate Action Centre?

The chance to work together with people which share the same motivation and which also really want to make a difference. Also the fact that I live now in Sweden a country that has showed so many times in the past that it is possible to make climate action happen through national legislation. Lastly it is the fact that KTH has around 15.000 students, who could become change makers for sustainability themselves, but probably aren't even aware of that now and we have the chance to engage and enable in these topics.

3. What do you look forward to most during your time at the Centre?

the trust that we have from the team to implement our own ideas, try out new things and be creative. And of course all the interesting people I will meet, hopefully all the new faces we will see at our events and students that come with feedback and suggestions to us and especially the encounters and stories happening at the centre that I do expect the least right now.
