Instant messaging is a simple and fast way to communicate with your co-workers. XMPP stands for Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol.
KTH has its own Jabber/XMPP system ( that is free to use for all students and employees at KTH.

The Jabber/XMPP address for all users is the same as their e-mail address. To use the XMPP server you must first generate a password phrase.

Recommended clients

KTH IT Support recommends an application called “Pidgin”. Pidgin is a open source application released under GNU, General Public License that is free of charge.

Pidgin is already available prepackaged for the KTH WIKS and Ubuntu plattforms.

Users with stand-alone systems or privately owned computers can download Pidgin or other clients recommended by the XMPP Standards Foundation Read more about XMPP standard (External page) .
