About eduVPN that is KTH's VPN service and is available for all active and registered KTH students

As a student, you may sometime need to use VPN to access KTH's network for specific resources, such as your home directory or certain software programs. You can access KTH’s network via the eduVPN service.

About eduVPN

eduVPN is a VPN service that replaces Cisco VPN and that provide secure access to KTH network and resources when you are outside KTH. eduVPN is available for registered KTH students.

Subject to specific review, eduVPN can also be used to route all internet traffic through KTH’s network. This may be relevant, for example, when you are working from networks or locations where the internet connection cannot be considered as trustworthy.

Get started with eduVPN

Follow the instructions to get started.

Connection technology

Standard connection

The most users will use eduVPN with split tunneling. That means that trafic to the internal resources of KTH goes through the VPN connection, while other internet traffic goes through your ordinary internet connection.

Extended connection

For special needs, eduVPN can be activated and configured so that all internet traffic goes through KTH's network, so-called full tunneling.

This may be the case, for example:

  • when traveling on business to countries or locations where internet access cannot be considered trusted
  • when you need to use services or research resources that require traffic to come from KTH's network addresses
  • when special security or operational requirements justify that all traffic should go through KTH's network.

If you are in need of extended connection, Contact KTH IT-Support  digitally. State "Utökad uppkoppling för eduVPN” as a subject and describe why you are in need of the extend connection. Your request will then be assessed based on the specified need and IT Support will return with a response.
