Course development
On this page, you can see how the course has developed over time. For each course offering, course data is displayed (number of registered students and course results, along with planned changes for the next session). All course syllabuses and course memos are shown on the page Archive.
The information can help prospective, current, and former students with course selection, or to follow up on their own participation. Teachers, course coordinators, examiners, program directors, and others can use the page as a resource for course development.

Course analysis ML2302: 3 Jul 2024Changes introduced for this course offering
Before this course offering, several significant changes were made to improve the overall structure and effectiveness of the course. One of the most impactful changes was the switch from online submissions to on-site written exams for the INL1 basic part. This change was implemented to reduce plagiarism, which had been a recurring issue despite the emphasis on individual assignments. Students now have the option to attend an on-site re-exam if they do not pass on the first attempt. Another notable change was the removal of MATLAB lab sessions from the course. This decision was based on feedback from students who found the course load heavy and suggested that MATLAB was not essential for the course's focus on discrete event system simulation. Instead, the course now concentrates on practical skills using simulation modeling tools such as Arena, AnyLogic, and SUMO, which are more relevant to the course objectives. Additionally, we have enhanced the clarity and organization of the project work. Real-world problems are now sourced from industrial partners, providing students with valuable practical experience. To support this, guest lectures from problem owners, supervision sessions with teachers, and peer feedback sessions have been integrated into the course design.Examination grade
