Project description
This project investigates the feasibility of the implementation of inline, online, and/or on-machine surface metrology systems for real-time quality assurance in advanced manufacturing processes, with special focus on smooth surfaces.
This initiative will develop:
- a comprehensive foundation of decision support system for surface qualification
- and establish base guidelines for reliable industrial implementation of real-time surface measurement technologies.
Impact
By enabling real-time, inline surface inspection of components, this project supports the transition from sampling-based quality control to full production coverage: reducing scrap, shortening feedback loops, and strengthening the competitiveness of Swedish manufacturing.
