Coming changes for the GitHub server, gits-15

Information regarding the coming changes for the GitHub server, gits-15.

On the 13th of January 2023 we will limit who can use the GitHub service, gits-15.sys.kth.se. The service will only be available to users with an active student, employee, staff or faculty affiliation with KTH.
Users with a KTH account and no active affiliation with KTH will no longer have access to the service after that date.

This change will only impact the GITS-15.sys.kth.se server.

Who will be impacted from this changes?

Users that no longer are active or have an active affiliation will not be able to access the service.

How can i check if this will impact me?

You can check your affiliation by visiting SWAMID's release check  and logging in with your KTH account.

If the eduPersonAffiliation field contains one of the following affiliations, student, employee, staff or faculty you will be able to access the gits-15 service.

When will i lose access to the service?

If you no longer have an active affiliation will automatically loose access to the service when your affiliation is no longer active.

Will my repositories be deleted after i lose my affiliation?

We will not delete data at that time but we will delete the data after a time period.

Will other users lose access to my repositories?

Yes, users will loose access to the repositories after we suspend your account? You will need to transfer the repository to another user, team or organisation for other users to be able to access the repositories.

What will happend to teachers that don't have an active official affiliation with KTH?

Teachers that don't have an active official affiliation with KTH will be able to get time limited access to the service after a the course responsible requests access for the teacher.
