Hemmet

Information for students living at Hemmet, Drottning Kristinas Väg 43B

Directions

Hemmet is located on the main campus. Walk up Drottning Kristinas väg from the Tekniska Högskolan metro station for about 5 minutes. The building is on the left side of the road.

Key and lock

We will inform you of the code to the entrance when you arrive. Do not share this code with anyone. You will receive a key to your door and storage room, and a key to your mailbox. For the doors located on the entry floor, you need to lift the door handle before the door can be locked.

If you misplace your key

If you misplace your key during office hours, you can borrow an extra key temporarily at KTH Entré; please email housingoffice@kth.se . There is no external spare-key service for lock-outs outside office hours at Hemmet.

If you lose your key during evenings or weekends, it is up to you to contact a locksmith and pay for this service and associated costs (around SEK 3000-7000), or stay with a friend and wait until KTH Entré is open again. Remember to ask for price before you agree on using exernal locksmith services and inform housingoffice@kth.se  afterwards.

Entrances

Please make sure entrance doors close properly. Make a fault report  in case the doors do not close or lock properly.

Kitchen and bathroom

Kitchen

  • Never pour fats, oils or grease in your sink drain. Grease in sewer pipes blocks your drain and causes maintenance problems for property owners and the city. Pour left-over frying oil, fats and grease into an empty plastic bottle or container. Hand in at your closest recycling station.

  • The tap water is of good quality and drinkable. 

  • Always ensure the kitchen hood (fan) is on when cooking. 

 Bathroom 

  • Only toilet paper and bodily fluids are allowed to flush in the toilet. For example, cotton pads, menstrual pads and tampons goes into the general waste.

  • The shower drain needs cleaning regularly, or the water might overflow the bathroom floor and cause water damage. See how you do it here, choose English subtitles:

Internet and utilities

Internet access is included in the rent. You need to provide your own network cable or router. The socket is located in the wall. If it is not working, call Bahnhof at: 010-5100000. Please see the instructions posted in the entryway about setting up your new account.

Heat, electricity and water are included in the rent.

Laundry

The laundry room is located on the entry floor of the building. You use the code provided by KTH Housing to get in. 

Garbage and recycling

The garbage room is located outside of the building, next to the entrance. The code to get in is the same as the front door. There are no recycling bins, you will need to take your recycling to the public bins located in the city. The closest public bin you will find here The recycling station 10 min by foot from Hemmet 

House rules

  • There should be no loud noise between 10 pm and 7 am. If you have friends over, please be understanding and respectful if a neighbour asks you to keep it down. If disturbances are extreme or recurring, please let us know or make a report to the police, phone 11414.

  • Please leave the laundry room clean and tidy after use. 

  • Do no leave items in the corridor outside the rooms, stairways or entrances as these are escape routes.

  • Smoking is strictly forbidden inside the buildings (including through windows and on the balcony) and outside anywhere near the entrances and windows.

Balconies

Smoking is not allowed on the balconies. Do not keep garbage bags on the balcony. Please use care when opening and closing the windows on the balcony and secure them if they are left open. For apartments on the bottom floor, please make sure your outside door is always locked, and your belongings are stored inside your apartment.

Fire safety

All apartments have smoke detector alarms installed and it is absolutely forbidden to remove the batteries and/or the device. Please note that if the device or batteries are removed, not only is it a risk for your safety, but most likely your home insurance will not be valid, in case there is an incident.

If the smoke detector should go off, even if there is no fire, for instance when cooking, there is no cost involved.

In case of fire in your apartment, go out of the apartment, close the door firmly and call 112.

Do you have any questions or need to make a fault report?

 General fault report

If there is something wrong in your accommodation, you need to Make a fault report online  or by calling 08-790 9200. We will cooperate with the landlord's caretakers to solve your issue as soon as possible. If you see any vermin, for example bedbugs, in your room, you need to make a fault report immediately.

Emergency fault report outside office hours

If you have urgent matters (for example a water leak or dangerous electrical faults) outside office hours (16.30- 8.00), call 08-657 77 20 Securitas Jourmontör. If your emergancy relates to your key, we recommend first reading the infomation above under the headline "Key and lock". Use the regular fault report above during office hours.
