What is meant by course-specific information about generative AI?
Course-specific information about generative AI is information about how generative AI may be used in the course's graded assignments and exams. The information is usually based on one of four common approaches to the use of generative AI:
- No use of generative AI tools allowed
- Only allowed in specific assignments
- Allowed according to given guidelines
- Free use of generative AI tools.
Note! Always read the details of the information for each course. There can be a big difference between different courses even if they are based on the same approach.
Where can I find the course-specific information?
Every course at KTH is recommended to have course-specific information about generative AI published in both Canvas and course memos, so start by looking there. All course rooms in Canvas come with a module where the teacher can publish course-specific information about generative AI, but depending on the course structure, it may be published elsewhere.
If you cannot find the information or are unsure of what applies, ask your teacher or the course responsible.

The use of generative AI in graded assignments and exams should always be based on the course-specific information, but when studying, it is your own judgment that matters.
