About InspireLab

InspireLab supports projects that develop and use technology to improve conditions for women, address concrete equality challenges, and contribute to a sustainable society.
The world is not equal, and inequality comes at a cost. By improving gender equality, we create value on multiple levels: individual (people’s lived experiences, conditions, and health), organisational (productivity, innovation capacity, and decision-making quality), and societal (sustainability, security, and democracy). Increased gender equality contributes to a more sustainable society as a whole.
Purpose
InspireLab is a catalyst for technology and innovation that improves gender equality in society.
Guiding principles
InspireLab has a particular focus on innovative and groundbreaking initiatives. In addition to offering research funding, InspireLab supports knowledge dissemination in society at large. Going forward the centre will also organise doctoral schools and generate knowledge to be integrated into education and future research at KTH.
InspireLab supports and drives projects and initiatives that:
- Focus on women’s lived experiences from an intersectional perspective and aim to improve women’s conditions (or address a concrete gender equality issue).
- Focus on technological development. We prioritise projects/initiatives with concrete practical relevance and applicability and welcome those with an innovative component.
- Maintain the highest possible scientific quality.
- Have a clear connection to KTH. We prioritise researchers active at KTH and encourage collaborations with other national and international higher education institutions as well as other sectors (industry, civil society, etc.).
- Have a composition and working culture that contribute to a more gender-equal KTH.
