InspireLab Exchange

The InspireLab Exchange grant aims to strengthen research on inclusive technology for gender equality and to support international collaboration between KTH and universities abroad.

In 2026, InspireLab will award several grants providing funding for visiting researchers to spend a minimum of two (2) consecutive months at KTH. The visit should clearly contribute to InspireLab’s research agenda, advancing work at the intersection of technology and gender. Applications are made by KTH employed researchers.

Application requirements

Applications must include:

  • The completed application form.
  • A letter of support from the KTH applicant stating he/she/they will provide the office space for the visiting researcher during their stay.
  • A detailed budget for the visit.
  • A maximum two-page CV of KTH researcher.
  • A maximum two-page CV of visiting researcher.

Selection criteria

Applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • The visiting researcher must be a prominent researcher with an established research record (minimum of two years relevant research) affiliated at a university in or outside Europe. The visiting researcher should have demonstratable knowledge and skills in inclusive technology for gender equality.
  • Although national exchanges are possible, international exchanges are prioritised.
  • Priority is given to applications that advance InspireLab's research pillars  and result in tangible joint activities, such as shared projects, funding applications, or courses.

Selection process

InspireLab’s scientific council reviews all submitted applications and provides recommendations for funding. Final decisions are made by the InspireLab steering group.

Scope and funding conditions

Grants cover a maximum of SEK 300,000 for a single uninterrupted visit commencing no earlier than 1 October 2026 and no later than 1 October 2027. Applicants may apply for either the full amount or a partial amount. Funds may only be used for the following purposes:

  • Round-trip travel to and from KTH.
  • Accommodation with self-catering facilities. Maximum 30,000 SEK per month.
  • To replace up to 20% of the visiting researcher’s working time for joint research activities, provided they are not receiving salary from their home institution during the same period.
  • Other costs such as insurance costs etc. as applicable. Health insurance is included for all visiting researchers, read more here .

Applicants must submit a budget detailing these expenses. Please note that per diem allowances are not covered by InspireLab. Any deviations from the approved budget must be communicated in advance to InspireLab’s management; unapproved changes will not be reimbursed.

Expectations of visiting researchers

Depending on the length of the visit, visiting researchers are expected to:
  • Deliver at least one open lecture or seminar at KTH in the form of an ”InspireTalk”.
  • Participate actively in InspireLab’s centre activities such as joint workshops and meetings.
  • Submit a final report on their research and collaborations during the visit.
