Course development

1. Be clear about how the course fits in with previous courses. 2. Be clear about expectations: read the course literature, work through the exercises yourself and practice solving problems with DICTRA. 3. Make clear in the first lecture what the written exam will look like, and then refer back to the slides shown during the course. 4. Continuous examination: voluntary "kontrollskrivning" that gives points on written exams and oral/practical DICTRA presentation. 5. Remove submission of computer labs, homework and exam tasks on DICTRA and replace with individual oral and practical presentation of DICTRA knowledge. 6. Teach only the console version of DICTRA, do not encourage anyone to use the GUI version in the course. Be clear that no help will be given for the GUI version in the course. 7. Dedicate the computer labs to practicing “simple” problems to hone in on the necessary commands and the general calculation flow. 8. Weave DICTRA into the heat treatment section.
