Kursens utveckling

The most important changes for next year, as concluded at the course meeting, are: • Change the scheduling of the hand-in assignment deadlines so that it is more evenly spread out during the period. In particular, the deadline of homework 1 can be scheduled already two weeks after the course start, followed by another homework deadline every four weeks, which will allow the fourth homework set to be scheduled before Christmas. • Reduce the workload of homework 4. This can be done by reducing the number of subproblems and/or by giving the students more guidance or code skeletons. • Introduce an exercise to teach the students data cleaning. This can for example be done in homework 1. • Other suggested changes that are less essential but were discussed during the meeting include introducing self-check tests on theory after each lecture, having more conceptual questions in the graded quizzes, communicating clearly that the level of difficulty increases for the later homework sets, and publishing a document with practical advice for the project.
