Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

In the course is included reading of simple texts, written exercises, listening comprehension and simple dialogues with the emphasis on everyday vocabulary and everyday phrases. Exercises in the basic grammar and pronunciation of Brazilian Portuguese. Elements about Brazil, Brazilian culture, society and technical development.

Intended learning outcomes

CEFR level A1/A2

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

Listening comprehension

• perceive the main contents in everyday, simple conversations and short, clear messages. (level A1/A2)

Reading comprehension

• understand and account for information from different simple texts. (level A2)

• identify facts from simple authentic texts. (level A2)

Oral skills

• use the language in simple, everyday situations. (level A1/A2)

Writing skills

• use the language in everyday situations such as short, personal letters and messages. (A2)

Other

• account for elementary Brazilian realia.

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

the attendance of 75 % and passing grade in all parts.
