During the course, the reading of simple texts, essay-writing, listening comprehension and simple dialogues are practised from everyday words and phrases. Basic rules of grammar and pronunciation of Swedish are presented and practised. Components of everyday living in Sweden, Swedish culture, society and technical development are presented.

Intended learning outcomes
The expected learning outcomes for the course mainly refer to the levels A1/A2 according to CEFR, Common European Framework of Reference for Language.
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

understand simple phrases and conversations about everyday situations/subjects in slow and clear speech (A1).

understand information from a variety of everyday texts (A1-A2)
identify facts from authentic texts that contain simple everyday content (A1-A2)
Speech
talk about yourself, your family, your house and your studies with simple phrases and sentences (A1-A2)

participate in simple, everyday conversations that are slow and clear (A1)

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
