Structure of the education
The focus of the programme is the Design Studio projects. Within the Studio projects students participate in two projects per semester. Parallel to the studio work, students are taking orientation courses and advanced level seminars in Architectural Technology and Architectural History&Theory. The last semester of the two years Master’s programme is dedicated to the design and development of a thesis project.
The programme is course-based. Lists of courses are included in Appendix 1: Course list
Courses in the first and the second cycle are graded on a scale from A to F. A-E are passing grades, A is the highest grade. The grades pass (P) and fail (F) are used for courses under certain circumstances.
For the architectural studio projects and courses the Pass/Fail grading system is used. This does not apply to the thesis project.
Conditions for participation in the programme
The student is supposed to participate from the first day of the semester, when the course starts.
The student is admitted to the thesis project only if he/she has passed all studio projects and courses (1.5 years), and submits an approved thesis preparation booklet.
Studio projects are to be completed within a certain time limit. The student is allowed to begin the following studio project, even if he/she has not yet passed a certain project.
Autumn semester projects are to be completed and submitted latest by June 1st the following semester.
Spring semester projects are to be completed during the summer and submitted latest by August 15th the same year.
It is not possible to submit a studio project after this time limit.
Additonal courses are to be completed and submitted latest by August 15th, if the student intends to register in the 3rd term of the programme.
The degree (thesis) project comprises 30 ECTS points. The student is admitted to the thesis project only if he/she has passed all studio projects and courses, and submits an approved thesis preparation booklet. Thesis assessments are conducted by a special examination jury. The thesis project is to be carried out within a certain time limit and submitted to the supervisor and the jury according to a fixed schedule.
