China: Tsinghua University Global Research Program

Tsinghua University is one of the oldest traditional technical universities in China located in Beijing. Adopting a “Lab Immersion + Faculty Mentorship + University-Wide Platform” model, this program allows students to engage in cutting-edge research at Tsinghua’s laboratories, for six weeks or more. Admitted students will be fully engaged in hands-on laboratory research without coursework obligations, receive one-on-one academic guidance from Tsinghua’s distinguished faculty, and experience authentic campus life and multicultural exposure

Apply

The tuition and application fees are waived for KTH students. You can join this program for six to nine weeks any time before 30 November 2026.

To apply, you must go through the following steps:

  1. Contact a faculty mentor. Identi Identify potential supervisors via the program website (tsinghua.edu.cn) .
  2. Make an online application to Tsinghua. Application timeline: 24 February to 31 March. Admissions results are announced in April 2026.

The program requires a minimum commitment of 6 weeks. However, the specific schedule is flexible and can be arranged directly with your host laboratory to suit your availability.

Leveraging Tsinghua’s high-quality laboratories and faculty expertise, the program adopts a “Lab Immersion + Faculty Mentorship + University-Wide Platform” model to deliver advanced research training and academic exchange, fostering global collaboration and building an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural community of young researchers.

Eligibility requirements

  • Non-Mainland Chinese citizen or non-permanent resident of Mainland China.
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at KTH (must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study before starting the program).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 or equivalent.
  • Proficient in English (Chinese not required).
  • Strong motivation and interest in research.
