What made you choose KTH?

I had a keen interest in ICT when I was in my bachelor's studies at HUST and decided to continue my studies in a developed country to get more practical training. Northern Europe, maybe the most developed and successful region of the world, has always been a desirable and mysterious place to me since I was a little child. KTH is a leading engineering university with an excellent reputation in ICT. And it has strong connection with industry. I thought there must be plenty of opportunities in Sweden since it has so many famous companies such as Ericsson, Volvo, Spotify, Scania, IKEA and H&M, etc.

What do you like most about KTH?

I really enjoy the extraordinary learning atmosphere at KTH. Here I can study with students from many different countries with different cultures, but most of them share one common characteristic – the eagerness for knowledge, which inspires me a lot. Within my programme, the students have access to many interesting and challenging projects, through which our practical skills and teamwork capability improve tremendously. Also, some projects involve the latest technologies, which are in high demand by some technical companies.

What are your impressions of Stockholm and Sweden?

My strongest feeling about Sweden is that everyone is equal here regardless of who you are, where you come from, or how rich you are. I still remember what the programme director said on the introduction day: “I know you guys all come from different countries, but now you are all in Sweden, one of the most equal countries in the world. Maybe in some countries, teachers are in a higher class than their students, but here in Sweden professors and students are always equal without any hierarchy in between. So feel free to ask us for any help and do not be afraid of making mistakes.”

Also, Swedes are well educated, polite, helpful, and can speak English proficiently. Stockholm is one of the most liveable cities in the world, where I can enjoy picturesque scenery everywhere.

What is your best memory from your time at KTH so far?

This is the hardest question because there are so many wonderful memories. But I would like to mention my summer internship, where I put what I have learned into practice and got to work together with several other excellent interns.

Are there any differences between studying at KTH and your home university?

I think the biggest difference lies in the learning style. Most of my courses at KTH emphasis on practical skills and teamwork. You could not pass the course if you only pass the writing examination – there are also many labs, projects, and presentations, which are very challenging and you need to put plenty of effort and learn how to collaborate with others.

What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for their master's studies?

Studying abroad is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about experiencing a different culture. Come to KTH, where you can learn the latest technologies and experience a wonderful life in one of the most successful countries – Sweden.

Do you have a dream job after graduating from KTH?

My dream job after graduation is to use some state-of-the-art technologies such as AI and big data to solve telecommunication problems, which is what I am doing at Ericsson right now.
