Interested in applying for housing through KTH? Your chances of securing accommodation and the process depend on your type of studies at KTH and whether you pay tuition fees. Please note that we cannot offer housing to all students.

Housing application for the autumn semester 2026
The housing application for newly admitted students for the 2026 autumn semester will open on 1 May 2026. Information will be updated below closer to the application start date. The terms below may change until then.

Housing service eligibility
Tuition-fee-paying students doing a full master's or bachelor's program (including scholarship holders) are offered accommodation for the first academic year through KTH Housing. See all

Application process for the autumn semester

The first installment of the tuition fees must be paid before applying.

A link to the registration form is available here from 1 May to 31 May. Fill out the form and make sure the information is correct before submitting it. If you need help changing any details in your application or account, contact
housingoffice@kth.se
. Do not make another application.

After filling out the form, you get instructions via email on how to create an account in Mobility Online and complete your personal data. Make sure to check your e-mails, including your SPAM folder.

When you have made a Mobility Online account, select 4 room preferences and confirm them in Mobility Online before 31 May. Your chances of getting one of your preferences are the same no matter when you apply in May.

Wait for your housing offer. Offers are sent out continuously from 1 June to 30 June.

Confirm or reject the housing offer in Mobility Online within 48 hours of receiving it.

Shortly after confirming the offer, you receive the first rent invoice by email. You make the payment in Mobility Online before the due date mentioned on the invoice.

After the payment has been processed you will be asked to download, sign and upload the contract in Mobility Online.

When you have uploaded the signed contract in Mobility Online you are welcome to collect the keys at KTH Entré from the start date of the contract. Please read the conditions for key pick up

2. Joint master's students

Joint master's students (including EU, EEA and Swiss citizens) in the following programmes can apply for housing for their first academic year at KTH.

Application process for the autumn semester

Before applying you must have received a formal Letter of Admission from your program at KTH.

3. Exchange students
Housing service eligibility
Exchange students (including double degree and dual master exchange students) coming to KTH for the spring semester 2026 are welcome to apply for housing. However, please bear in mind that there is a limited stock of rooms and apartments, which means that housing is not guaranteed. We always recommend to
search for housing on your own
in addition to applying with KTH Housing.
Application
All incoming exchange students starting January 2026 will be sent a welcome letter from KTH via email on 3 November with the housing application link. Remember to check your spam inbox. Please make sure to fill in the housing application form without delay and follow through with all steps required in Mobility Online before the deadline stated in the email in order to have a chance to housing through KTH Housing.
Once the application period closes, booking will start and offers will be sent out continuously. If you receive an offer, you have 48 hours to accept or decline it in Mobility Online. It is not possible to change the offer, or decline it and get another one. The aim is to have booked all vacancies and have notified all applicants by the end of November/early December.
Start date of the contracts will be 12 January, 2026 (with the exception of some contracts starting on 13 January due to availability). The default end date of the contract is 30 June, 2026 (including that night) with the possibility of contract changes with two full calendar months’ notice.

4. Other types of students
Housing service eligibility
Non tuition fee-paying students (citizens of EU, EEA or Switzerland), other than those covered in group 1,2 or 3, can not apply for accommodation via KTH. Your eligibility is not affected by if you are doing a full master's or bachelor's programme, are admitted to courses only, or doing an internship.
Due to a change in Swedish law limiting universites possibility to rent out housing effective from January 2023, we can no longer offer accommodation to this student group. We recommend
