Apply to International Internship Programme in informatics at NII in Tokyo

Published Apr 20, 2022

As PhD-candidate or master's student at KTH, you have the opportunity to be a guest researcher at the leading institute for informatics in Japan.

The National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Tokyo has identified KTH as a prioritized partner. Master’s students and doctoral students at KTH are eligible to be supervised, for example, for the master’s degree project. NII now expects the travel restrictions to Japan to be eased and that these internships again can take place in Tokyo.

Students need to find a supervising professor at NII and then write a letter of motivation. The letter should be sent to KTH Prof. Atsuto Maki, atsuto@kth.se , who is coordinating this programme at KTH. Do that before the internal deadline of 15 May 2022.

Then the nomination will be made for 1-2 applicants. Vice president Stefan Östlund is responsible for this nomination.

NII offers an exceptionally strong research environment. It is the only national institute in Japan in informatics, with some 75 permanent professors and many visiting professors.

The institute is located in central Tokyo.
