You can carry out an internship with Erasmus funding even if you have previously completed exchange studies, as an Erasmus scholarship can be granted for up to 12 months per study level (bachelor's, master's and doctoral level).

If you are going to do an internship within the EU, you can apply for an Erasmus scholarship for an internship period of at least two months. The amount is calculated per day and is given for the days you carry out the internship. The table below contains the amounts for the different countries that are part of Erasmus+. You must be enrolled at KTH to be granted a scholarship. Before you start your application, you must have found an internship and received an invitation to the company, organisation or university where you will carry out the internship.

You must apply at least one month before the internship begins to receive the scholarship payment in connection with the start of the internship. Applications made after the internship period has begun will not be granted. If you are an EIT student who has been awarded a scholarship from the EIT programme, you cannot receive the Erasmus+ scholarship, as you cannot receive double scholarships from the EU.

Switzerland and the United Kingdom

As Switzerland and the United Kingdom are not part of Erasmus+, KTH cannot grant scholarships for internships or degree work outside of agreed exchange places in these countries. This situation is due to budget changes within the Erasmus programme.

If you want to apply for the Swiss scholarship (SEMP), you should apply for an exchange place for studies (e.g. project course). Contact your international coordinator for more information.

Double degree students

For double degree students, the following applies to degree work and internships abroad: To be eligible for the Erasmus scholarship, you must go to a company or university in a different country than the country you are going on an exchange from.

Example: If you have studied at a French university and come to KTH for double degree studies, you cannot go to France and receive the Erasmus scholarship for an internship or degree project.

Apply for scholarship via Erasmus+, internships

  1. Before starting the application, you must find a place to undertake an internship.
  2. Please send an email to erasmus-plus@kth.se  to get the application link.
  3. The application is made in two steps in the system Mobility-Online. Follow the instructions carefully. The application must include:
    • A Learning Agreement (pdf 277 kB) , signed by you, the receiving organisation and someone at your academic school at KTH.
    • An invitation letter from the organisation/company/university receiving you. Attach a description of the internship.
    • A Grant Agreement, a complete and signed contract, to upload into the application system.
  4. A notification of an approved scholarship will be sent to the email address provided in the application.
  5. The scholarship is paid in two parts: an initial payment of 70% of the amount granted is made in connection with the date you specified as the start date. A second, final, payment is made when you have finished your internship. You need to upload a "Certificate of Attendance", or similar, into the application system, since the applied time period and the completed time may differ. This way we can adjust the amount to the correct number of days.
  6. You shoud make an evaluation of your internship which will be sent to you from the European Commission.

Language tests for Erasmus+ scholarship receivers

Before your internship, KTH recommends you to take a language test via Erasmus+ Online Language Support, OLS. The test is aimed at you who will participate in an internship that lasts for at least 14 days on-site. Through the test, you test your language level and can then choose to take one or more online courses in any language. You can also do a voluntary test at the end of your internship period.

You will receive a link from KTH to access the language test. You must create an account using the link to proceed to the language test. If you need help with the platform, please email erasmus-plus@kth.se .

Inclusion support

Within the Erasmus+ program, there is the possibility of applying for inclusion support (top-up). Erasmus+ offers inclusion support for the following student groups:

  • Students with permanent disabilities, such as chronic diseases, dyslexia, deafness, blindness, mobility impairment, or neuropsychiatric disabilities (for example, ADHD, autism spectrum, Tourette syndrome).
  • Students with minor children.
  • Students with previous or ongoing refugee status in Sweden.

Learn more about inclusion support on our webpage on Erasmus scholarships for exchange studies. The same inclusion support is offered for degree projects and internships abroad.
