Financing on this page are funded by the European Union.

If you are awarded an exchange place within the EU, you can apply for an Erasmus scholarship, which is usually granted to all applicants. Only students allocated an exchange place through KTH's exchange agreement within Erasmus + can be given the Erasmus scholarship. The scholarship can be granted several times during the studies, but for a maximum of 12 months per study level (bachelor's, master's or doctoral student level) and at least two months at a time.

If you as a student have special needs, there are funds to apply for to bring your support to the exchange destination. You can find more information about this further down on this page.

The scholarship is calculated per day and is given for your study time at the partner university. The scholarship is also provided for the time you stay at a partner university before the start of studies if this time is mandatory, for example, in connection with intensive courses or introduction. The scholarship amount varies depending on your study destination. 70 per cent of the scholarship amount is paid on departure. The rest is paid on return. The scholarship application must be completed before the exchange starts. You will find instructions on this page under the heading "Scholarship application for studies in Europe".

Scholarship applications for Erasmus+

KTH has introduced a Digital Learning Agreement that replaces the Learning Agreement form. Students who will be starting their studies abroad in the spring of 2024 onwards are asked to fill in their Digital Learning Agreement directly in Mobility Online.

When you have been allocated an exchange spot you should:

  1. Fill in your precise semester dates including the prepatorial language course (if you take one), teaching language and any previous Erasmus participation in Mobility Online.
  2. Print and sign the scholarship application (Grant Agreement). Print the document from Mobility Online. You and your international coordinator must sign the document. Once the document is signed, upload it to Mobility Online again. The Erasmus coordinator's signature is done digitally after the document has been uploaded into the system. When you have uploaded the application, you have completed what is the basis for the first payment of your Erasmus scholarship. The payment will be made in connection with the start of your exchange studies - but no later than 30 days after the semester begins (according to the dates specified in Mobility Online).
  3. Fill out a Digital Learning Agreement, a plan for the studies abroad, which then must be signed digitally in Mobility Online by you, the international coordinator at your academic school and the host university.

Erasmus Digital Learning Agreement and Scholarship application - step by step

Any changes in your Digital Learning Agreement must be made in a revised Digital Learning Agreement, which should be signed in the same way as the original. For the second installment of the scholarship to be done at homecoming you must:

  • Ensure that the Digital Learning agremeent is signed by you, international coordinator at your academic school and the host university.
  • Upload a Certificate of Attendance, Studietidsintyg/Certificate of Attendance (docx 62 kB)  (as one pdf document), signed by the host university, an exchange evaluation and a language test.

If you are extending or interrupt your stay abroad you should notify your international coordinator and the person responsible for the installment of the scholarship. Do not forget to apply for extension at least one month before the regular period is over, since extensions are not granted retroactively.

Language tests for Erasmus+ scholarship receivers

Before your exchange, KTH recommends you to take a language test via Erasmus+ Online Language Support, OLS. The test is aimed at you who will participate in an exchange that lasts for at least 14 days on-site. Through the test, you test your language level and can then choose to take one or more online courses in any language. You can also do a voluntary test at the end of your exchange period.

You will receive a link from KTH to access the language test. You must create an account using the link to proceed to the language test. If you need help with the platform, please email erasmus-plus@kth.se .
