Poland: Unite! MATE Winter School in Wroclaw

Wrocław University of Science and Technology invite students from the Unite! alliance to apply for the Unite! MATE Winter School 'Joining techniques and quality control', taking place in Wroclaw, Poland, 24-26 February 2026.

This winter school is aimed at master's students and doctoral candidates in the following areas (and related fields):

  • Mechanical engineering
  • Materials engineering
  • Energy engineering
  • Robotics and automation
  • Electronics and advanced manufacturing technologies

This winter school is fully funded by WroclawTECH, and travel and accommodation costs will also be reimbursed.

There are three training programmes available, the Winter Schools offer three parallel learning pathways. Each participant may only register for one of them and registration is independent for each programme. Find application links for each pathways below.

Enjoy any of this three-day Winter School in beautiful Wroclaw, Poland. This is an opportunity to expand competences and meet students from Unite! universities.

Three parallel training programs are offered. Registration is separate for each one, and each participant may take part in only one program.

Program 1: Robotization and automation of manufacturing processes

The training will allow you to develop your competences in:

  • understanding modern manufacturing and automation processes,
  • programming and operating industrial robots,
  • integrating key components of automated and Industry 4.0 systems,
  • analysing and optimising automated production processes,
  • applying digital communication and control technologies,
  • developing teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.

The Winter School is held in English and combines theoretical knowledge with practical laboratory activities. English proficiency is required for participation.

Program 2: Additive manufacturing and coating technology

The training will allow you to develop your competences in:

  • process planning in additive manufacturing and coating technologies,
  • operating and monitoring AM equipment,
  • conducting diagnostic measurements and analyzing coating quality,
  • evaluating process parameters and material behavior,
  • performing post-processing to ensure precision and functionality.

Program 3: Joining techniques and quality control

The training will allow you to develop your competences in:

  • understanding modern joining methods and their appropriate selection,
  • operating welding equipment and robotic welding systems,
  • performing basic manual, semi-automatic, laser and brazing joints,
  • programming simple welding robot trajectories,
  • applying quality control methods and interpreting testing results (including NDT),
  • assessing joint quality with respect to safety and reliability,
  • collaborating in an international engineering environment.
