Suggested actions: a) Earlier start of the project work and building processes b) Ensure that only students with relevant prior knowledge are admitted to the course. c) The teachers should be physically present at KTH for most of the course. d) Revise the exercises so that they are more clearly linked to the bridge project. e) Ensure continuous supervision and feedback, e.g. by involving myself and a doctoral student (preferably Ian) in the supervision. f) Increase safety during the construction phase – possibly by hiring an experienced carpenter to carry out the more risky phases together with some experienced students. g) Consider eliminating the written exam (TEN1) and replacing it with other forms of examination, e.g. as a new exercise (ÖVN1) in the first phase of the course, prior to the detailed bridge design work, introduce an individual test of students on some basic structural engineering principles. h) Eliminate the examination part called TEN1 (graded A-F) and instead test the learning outcomes of the course with the exercises (ÖVN1) and projects work (PRO1). i) Decrease the examination parts from four parts (TEN1, LAB1, ÖVN 1 and PRO1) to only two parts (PRO1 and ÖVN1) graded with pass or fail.
