Welcome to EQ2850/EO3220 Coding For Wireless Communications

This course provides an introduction to principles and practice of error-control coding and related information inference. The topics include coding schemes based on trellis representations and factor graphs and network coding. The main purpose of the course is to complement the basic courses in the area with the goal to complete the understanding of modern coding schemes.

Course Content

The EQ2850 course is an accelerated Master’s Program course and is conducted jointly with the Ph.D. level course EO3220. The Master’s level course contains the following topic areas:

  • Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes and factor graphs
  • Iterative decoding on factor graphs
  • Convolutional codes and applications
  • Turbo codes and iterative decoding
  • Serial concatenation and repeat-accumulate codes
  • Density evolution and extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) charts
  • Network Coding and Application

In addition to the topic areas above, the EO3220 course further contains the following topic areas:

  • Network Coding, Advanced Topic
  • Rateless Codes
  • Coding for Distributed Storage
