Som en god student med gott samvete försökte jag just köra msy_hydrostatics, med mycket dåligt resultat.

JAg laddade ner programmet och klickade på den extractade ikonen och får då se felmeddelandet:

applauncher cannot locate a valid install area. If an MRC is not the default location then you must establish a valid install area by using the system preferences panel.

JAg förstår icke, vad ska man göra ?

You need to install the "MCR-installer" available on the course web site.

I have spent too much time on this problem. I am running MATLAB_R2015a and I have tried using both he MCR provided for hw 2 (http://flygmac7.flyg.kth.se/~msy/msy_container/SD2706_sailing/Cycle_2_Hull_and_Stability/) and also Matlab Runtime (http://www.mathworks.com/products/compiler/mcr/?refresh=true) where I set up the global environment variable as per instruction.

I have tried to run msy_hydrostatics with both MCR provided in the path and also with the Matlab Runtime I downloaded. Neither works. MATLAB makes an error sound but without any description.

I am obviously missing something, what could it be?

If u found MR to be correct in ex1 when h = 0 it doesn't mean it's correct when h = -0.5.

Well, the polar plot I have in my report doesn't look the same as the one you've generated with my boat and my parameters... In mine the boat speed is for certain presented in m/s, but that shouldn't change the shape of the curves...

Jakob, a question regarding H6:

Do you actually want a paper copy of the final version of H6 (as it's written in the schedule/course program), or is it enough with the e-mail that you ask us to send together with the britfair file etc?

Instructions for the sailing lab:

We meet at 17.00 in the reception at Skogshem & Wijk. The adress is Hustegavägen 1, Lidingö. To get there take subway or other transportation to Ropsten, then bus 204 towards Elfvik, get of at Furutorp. You can also check http://www.skogshem-wijk.se/Lokaltrafik__.html .

Wet weather gear (jacket and trousers) and life jacket is supplied. Dress so that you don't freeze!

The forecast is excellent with SW winds around ~10 knots. The boats we'll be sailing are the J92. Here is a polar so you can check out the performance. Question: at TWS=10 knots what is the optimum gybing angle for maximizing VMG downwind? =)
