Course contents
Intended learning outcomes
The overall objective of this course is that the participants independently, based on existing legislation, shall be able to analyze and solve practical problems of property formation and assignment of legal rights, both in situations where the parties agree as well as where compulsory legal provisions shall apply.
This means that the course participants after completion, inter alia, should be able to:
- Identify and evaluate various legal solutions to practical problem situations related to land use, property formation, and legal rights in land.
- Identify and evaluate various legal solutions to practical problem situations related to the establishment and management of common or joint facilities.
- Identify the relevant formal and material provisions in connectin to property formation and joint facility procedures.
- Explain the formal and material provisions in connection to property definition and regarding legalisation of earlier so-called private land divisions.
- Explain the basic rules of compensation at property formation and other types of compulsory property acquisition measures.
- Describe the design of relevant public decision procedures in matters of planning, land use permissions, compulsory property acquisition, and compensation.
Literature and preparations
Specific prerequisites
For single course students:
Completed upper secondary education and university studies of at least 120 credits (hp), including 60 credits (hp) in law, real estate planning, real estate development or built environment including real estate planning or equivalent. Documented proficiency in Swedish B and English A, or equivalent.
For KTH programme students:
Real Estate Planning (AI1504), or equivalent knowledge.
