The course schedule consists of three blocks of 2 days + 3 days + 2 days spread out over 6–7 weeks. Due to the interactive nature of the course, physical attendance during all days is preferred; however, some online participation is possible if necessary. Exact course dates will be notified later.
CK107V Paint and Coating Technology: Theory and Practice 5.0 credits
The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the field of organic coating chemistry including the coating components, application, substrates, and evaluation/characterization. The area is closely related to important industrial and environmental challenges. Most lectures are given by invited speakers from the coating industry. The course is primarily intended for people who are technically active in the coating industry, including suppliers and end-users. The main part of the course is held on site, with the possibility of attending some parts remotely.

Intended learning outcomes
Describe what a coating system is and use the terminology in the field of organic coatings.
Discuss aspects of coating chemistry and coating technology, such as binders, pigments, additives, coating formulation, production, substrates, coating processes, coating defects, analysis, testing, environmental-, health-, and safety aspects.
Explain the areas of use for different coatings and properties of the dried/cured coating.
Discuss environment-driven challenges within the coating industry.
