After completing the course, the student should be able to:
Listening comprehension
- understand the content of clear standard speech on general subject areas/events (level B1)
Reading comprehension
- Understand and give an accurate account of authentic texts on topical issues dealing with technical subjects and working life. (level B1)
Speaking
- converse and discuss informally on topics of personal interest or related to studies, work and topical events. (level A2)
- orally summarise texts of a general and/or specialist nature (level A2/B1)
- give an individual oral presentation of a specialised nature (level A2/B1)
Writing
- summarise texts of a general and/or specialised nature (level A2/B1)
- write a factual report or an argumentation text (level A2/B1).

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.
Three in-class quizzes give bonus points to improve the examination grade.
Other requirements for final grade
75% attendance. Examination based on written and oral performance during the course (ANN1; 1,5 credits, ANN2; 1,5 credits), and a final examination (TEN1; 3 credits)
