Intended learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student is expected to be able to:
- give an accurate account of the contents of texts of both a general and a scientific/technical nature
- express him/herself in writing in formal, coherent and correct Swedish in some common text types
- use formal academic engineering vocabulary
- identify, define and use grammatical constructions which are specific to Swedish
- argue orally on a topical issue in front of a group, give a coherent spoken account of a subject connected to his/her own field of study.

General entrance requirements for university studies with a pass in Swedish (B-svenska), upper secondary school level or equivalent and top marks on the compulsory placement test before applying or a pass in Swedish 4, Advanced Level, DS1530, DS1531 or DS1532. Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.
Other requirements for final grade
75% attendance. Oral proficiency will be continuously assessed (ANN1; 1,5 credits). Written assignments (ANN2; 3 credits). Final examination (TEN1; 1,5 credits)
