Intended learning outcomes

The course aims:

  • To raise student awareness of the rhetorical conventions that apply in the academic writing of their chosen field.
  • To give students practice in writing scientific articles according to the expectations of their community.
  •  To provide students with tools for self-improvement of grammar, vocabulary and style.

Examination

  • INL1 - Assignment, 3.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

Other requirements for final grade

The student should submit a short, independently written scientific article in the style of his/her field. This article is submitted in two drafts, of which the second (and final) draft is the basis for the final grade (INL1; 3 credits)
