Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

Publication of part of Master’s Thesis, leading to at least one of:

  • Publication and presentation of paper at scientific conference or in a science journal
  • Publication in a technical journal
  • Publication of popular science article in journal or in other media
  • Development of publicly available software
  • Application for patent or other decisive step for commersialisation of results

Intended learning outcomes

The course builds on the student’s Master’s Thesis, with the purpose that the student should learn about the relevant processes required for publication.

The course objectives are examined. Thus the student should:

  • Produce a publishable report from an earlier research or development study
  • Be knowledgeable about the rights to results of research and published material

Students from the KTH programmes in Electrical or Physical engineering or with similar, national or international background.

  • INL1 - Assignment, 7.5 credits, grading scale: P, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

Other requirements for final grade

The student should produce a manuscript, written in English, for publication/participation in relevant technical journal/conference or for other form of publication. The manuscript need not be accepted for publication at the completion of the course, but it should hold sufficient level and quality to be accepted for publication.
