Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

  • Combinatory networks
  • Sequence networks
  • The design language VHDL
  • Programmable circuits
  • Semiconductor memories
  • Digital to analog and analog to digital converters

Intended learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to give the students good knowledge of digital subsystems and systematic methods for analysing and designing communications systems. The aim is also to give basic knowledge of how to describe digital systems in a high level design language.

After completing this course students are to :

  • be able to analyse and design combinatory systems
  • be able to analyse and design sequential systems
  • be able to describe the behaviour of digital components in a high level design language
  • be able to implement such descriptions in programmable circuits
  • be trained to couple and test digital circuits
  • be able to read and understand information concerning digital electronics from various sources of information
