Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

Scientific theories, quantitative and qualitative methods with which one can investigate teaching and learning.

Develop the ability to write scientific papers about teaching and learning using established theories and methods in the field with due consideration to ethical issues.

Develop the ability of giving constructive feedback.

Intended learning outcomes

After the course the participant should be able to:

  • Design, carry out, analyze and critically evaluate empirical studies about teaching and learning in one’s own subject or nearby subjects.
  • Write a publishable paper about teaching and learning in one’s own subject or nearby subject.
  • Critically assess others’ papers and give constructive feedback.

Prerequisite LH203V Teaching and Learning in Subject Perspective.

You have the right to complete the course within two years from the first course date. Then you must register again for the course. The course is constantly evolving, the ability to counting part is not guaranteed.

The course is reported to the student’s LADOK. If you want to include it in your doctoral studies you have to get an agreement from you supervisor. The course is not reported to the DOKTORAND LADOK.

  • PRO1 - Project, 3.0 credits, grading scale: P, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

Other requirements for final grade

  • Write a synopsis and a draft as well as give feedback on somebody else’s texts.
  • Investigate one’s own or a colleagues teaching and learning.
  • Write a publishable scientific paper of (3-6 pages) about one’s own or a colleagues teaching and learning.
  • In written and oral form give feedback on somebody else’s paper.

If the paper is not judged being of enough quality additional work will be required. All assessment is conducted in pairs.
