Through the use of simple texts, basic Spanish grammar is studied. Pronunciation focuses on the ability to be understood and speak Spanish. Reading comprehension exercises of simple texts with varying contents are included Facts about the culture in Spanish-speaking countries, societies and technical development.

Intended learning outcomes
The expected learning outcomes for the course are mainly at the levels A1/A2 according to CEFR, Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
· use the language orally and in writing in simple everyday situations (A1)
· understand and account for information (in Swedish) taken from different elementary texts (A2)
· identify facts from authentic texts with technical content (A2)
· identify the main contents in a shorter oral presentation about known subjects (A2)
· account for basic facts and seek certain information about the culture in Spanish-speaking countries, societies and their technical development

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
