Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course deals with:

  • Roles and responsibilities within project management
  • Methods, technologies, tools, processes and models that are useful in the area of project management
  • Theoretical and practical project management

Intended learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student should be able to:

  • Identify the different roles and areas of responsibility that are necessary for efficient project management
  • Explain methods, technologies, tools and processes that are useful in the area of project management, for efficient management and control of projects within industry
  • Create a project model/project process based on acquired knowledge and standards, and be able to apply that on a real short-time project
  • Evaluate an industrially related project model/project process and when necessary suggest improvements based on relevant research and standards
  • Identify ones own role and the influence as a project manager and determine the need for development in the area of project management
  • Orally and in written, clearly account for aspects within project management

Examination

  • INL1 - Assignment, 3.5 credits, grading scale: P, F
  • PRO1 - Project, 7.5 credits, grading scale: P, F
  • TEN1 - Examination, 4.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

Other requirements for final grade

The final grade of the course is largely based on the results of the written examination of the course but is influenced by the results from assignments and the implemented project.
