Water Resources Group @SEED

Water Resources @ SEED

Water Resources at SEED focuses on understanding and addressing the complex interactions between climate change, land use, and global water systems. Our research explores the availability, quality, trends, and dynamics of water resources, and how they interact with the atmosphere, ecosystems, oceans, forests, and society across different scales, from local to global.

We use innovative methods, combining diverse datasets, advanced modeling, AI tools, and participatory methods to study complex coupled natural and social systems. The work aims to promote sustainable water science, engineering, and management for decision-making in urban and rural development.

Key research areas include hydrological responses to climate and land-use changes, risk assessments of water-related disasters, nature-based solutions, forest resilience, and smart city applications. In parallel, the group conducts cutting-edge studies on fluid flow and solute transport in fractured bedrock, critical for nuclear waste management and infrastructure safety. We also contribute to the activities of the WaterCentre@KTH, a collaborative hub that connects researchers, industry, policymakers, and civil society. The group’s interdisciplinary approach aligns with KTH’s mission to lead in sustainable engineering and carbon-neutral societies.
