I will continue working on the lecture content. I need to tailor it to what the students actually need.
I will give the students tools to monitor their progress and the progress of their group members.
I will introduce mandatory feedback rounds with me. Every group, who did ask for my feedback, did really well. Other project-based courses have mandatory feedback rounds as well. This course never had them, but will in the future.
The Wiki is great, but I dislike the second round where the students peer review someone else's entry. It does not help much. Instead, I will ask students to visualize a data set (I will compile some) with one or two of the methods from the Wiki.
The individual interviews: not sure yet. The previous course team loves them, I am not convinced yet. If we keep them, they will be more spread out.
I want to be able to voice my concerns with a project without reducing the student's enthusiasm. This is currently not possible, since every tiny aspect is graded. I am likely to move to a grading scheme, where the later parts of the course are graded, but not the initial parts of the project where you just want to let your creativity play out.

Proposed changes for 2025 - Change the reading list. - Create a video of each reading as a lecture. - Change the quiz to allow learning during the quiz. - Do not cover the result of the quiz in lecture time. - Place requirement for basic web development on course Canvas and Kopps page, the official syllabus. - Make the requirements of individual learning and the grading criteria of the personal interview clearer and structurally aligned. - Provide two opportunities to acquire the basic skills of web development - An official list of online tutorials - A voluntary workshop - Marko Petrovic takes the lead on the workshop Structure of the workshop - List of activities - List of resources. - Alessandro Iop will prepare and deliver a lecture on the future of visualization - 2 45-minute segments. - Implement a scheduling mechanism to allow people to attend ⅔ of the presentations during proposal and Hello World Demos. The final presentation remains mandatory at 100%. - We would like to create a mechanism where every offer is implemented. Regarding the journals, rather than producing journals we could schedule short Zoom-calls with the individual students and conduct short interviews/let them make a mini presentation. We make sure to steer focus away from formalities but make sure they answer the same questions we would like them to have considered with the journals. (A student having prepared screenshots and/or github pages, trello boards etc; gives the assignment points)Examinationsgrad

We reduced individual projects from 2 to 1, hitting the workload target. Lectures online through zoom and recorded. Replaced spreadsheet documentation of learning with learning journal.
