The city and the architecture are discussed from a historical prospective, focusing on the change during the centuries. Concepts as authenticity, preservation and context can be confronted in meeting the city, as is Rome's role as an inspiring - or a warning - example.

The course aims to an overview of the city's historical prerequisites and development, from antiquity to today.
Literature and preparations
Specific prerequisites
Completed upper secondary education or equivalent including swedish and english.
Recommended prerequisites
Professionals and ph.d.students with an interest in and experience from architecture are welcome to participate.

- MOM1 - 75% participation on lecture and seminars, 2.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
- MOM2 - Study tour to Rome, 2.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
- MOM3 - Assignment, 2.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
Other requirements for final grade
examination will be by individual assignments, to be reported and discussed after the trip. Active participation in the preparations and the trip is requested.
