Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course aims to provide basic knowledge of data management in finance, modelling and information flow and basic knowledge of programming. The course contains the following parts:

  • Different types of code and basic principles such as variables, functions and conditions
  • Basic data structures, such as lists and arrays
  • Data management and analysis
  • Communication and management in projects using your own programming code

Intended learning outcomes

After passing the course, the student should be able to:

  • Present findings about financial data using different visualisation techniques
  • Combine, manage and analyse heterogeneous data from multiple sources
  • Break down problems into smaller parts and use programming to solve them
  • Apply programming techniques for effective management of projects, reports and finance.

Mathematical knowledge corresponding to the learning outcomes in AF1763 Mathematics 1, Linear Algebra and AF1764 Mathematics 2, Calculus in one variable.
